New Life As Unhappy Wanderers

PENSIONERS Dom and June Amey thought they had found somewhere to spend their twilight years in peace when they moved to the Bellbird Caravan Park, Terrigal, seven years ago.
But they now face the prospect of spending the rest of lives as gypsies in search of affordable accommodation.
The Bellbird caravan park changed hands two years ago and it is understood a 45-unit townhouse development has been earmarked for the site.
Dom, 66, and June, 64, had been advised to leave the park by August.
Last week they sold their van to the park owner for $3000 - $5000 less than they originally paid for it.
In return, they say, their eviction deadline has been extended until February.
`I thought this was going to be my home until the day I died. We were told this would always be a caravan park.'
They have looked as far afield as Cessnock in search of another caravan park that can accommodate their budget.
`We would like to stay in this area because we have family here.
`We have no idea where we are going to live, everything is so expensive' June said.
An attempt to contact the owner of the Bellbird Caravan Park was unsuccessful.
